“Only in immune structures that form interiors can humans continue
their generational processes and advance their individuations.
Human have never lived in a direct relationship with “nature”,
and their cultures have certainly never set foot in the realm of what we call the bare facts; […] Humans are thus fundamentally and exclusively the creations of their interior"
Zdenek Burian was a Czech painter and book illustrator. His lifetime enquiry and work towards the pre and early human sceneries didn't only function as a supplement for popularization of paleontological science. With the process of translating archeological findings into images he was able to domesticate the disastrous features of pristine times and brought the semi-imaginary happenings of ancient storms, giant reptiles and the strive of the cave man into anyone's bookshelf. What are the everyday sediments and signs of our relation to an ever catastrophic nature? Is it possible to detect the simultaneous connections to ancient times in our domesticated environment? And what if the whirling substance and the characteristics of those events of forming nature that happened millions of years ago have not only impact on historical and cultural progression but also present and even future forming capacity? How do we sense and translate often subconsciously its perpetual shaping force and how do we translate and adapt it into our objects and interiors? What if we open up a precambiran rock washed ashore and as - one of the field studies of paleontology - paleotempestology would try to examine its layers. It would tell something about the local tropical storm activities of pre-historical times and also from that paleotmpestology would predict about possible weather behaviors. The Paleotempestological Inference exhibition tries to transform this imaginary fossil into an installation and draw a topological conclusion with the aim of reconcile ruptures between nature and culture.
